faded

©2012, Monika Roe

My first thought for this week's Illustration Friday topic of "faded" was to draw a woman with the color draining from her face. I sat down and while working on her hair, the shading took on a bow shape at her neck. This instantly reminded me of the Miss Dior Cherie perfume ads (Natalie Portman is the model and she has a bow in her hair, although not quite the same bow).

Since I was already working in blue and Miss Dior Cherie is a peachy pink color, I changed the name on the bottle to Miss Dior Nuit to work with my faded evening starlight concept. I'm very happy with the finished piece and hope you enjoy it too!

ideal home may 2012 issue

In May's issue of Ideal Home magazine the Savvy Shopper is focused on home improvement so I illustrated her putting up shelves and aligning pictures perfectly on the wall with the latest tools.

Some of the other things I illustrated are how to choose the right washing machine and Eco fittings for your bathroom. Everything you need to know to get your home ready for the easy relaxation of summer!

no boundaries

©2012, Monika Roe

This is the artwork I created to advertise the new "No Boundaries" show that opened yesterday at the Showroom Gallery here in Paso Robles. It's a new show put together by the Paso Robles Art Association that had no limitations on subject matter. I haven't seen the show yet, but am looking forward to it this weekend!

brownies and broomsticks

Today is the release date for "Brownies and Broomsticks" by Bailey Cates. I did the cover for this novel, the first in this magical bakery mystery series! The only thing I love more than drawing baked goods is eating them!
